# Investor story, Scoop

## Answer

The story we tell investors in the Scoop direction: problem, wedge, loop, moat, traction, versions and the ask, in plain words with Scoop, the raccoon, kept to the cover and the close, because money talk stays plain; the ask is not set.

## Today

### The story in seven beats

| Beat | What we say | Proof we can show | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Problem | The founder of a small online store is also its marketing team and decides each week alone, in the tired hours | The founder persona | [src: brand-directions/BRIEF.md section 3.2] [src: brand-directions/book/content/b.js b-1 monday] |
| Wedge | We read the store first: its reviews, catalog, ads, rivals and AI answers, with a source on every number | A live read on a demo store | [src: brand-directions/book/content/b.js b-11 edge] [src: brew/SCOPE.md:11-13] |
| Loop | Read, Plays, a ranked feed with drafts, a jam to make each one, a brief for whoever ships it, and learnings that rewrite the Plays | The product live | [src: brew/SCOPE.md:7] [src: brew/docs/brew-loop.md:5-15] |
| Moat | What we know about each store grows weekly; connected accounts and the team's learnings rewrite its Plays; later, what worked | Hypotheses, not results | [src: brand-directions/book/content/b.js b-11 moat] [src: memory brew-move-freshness] |
| Traction | Five real partner prospects on production since 25 Oct; real read only connections since 16 Oct; no revenue and no measured results | The read and the jam, live, no names | [src: memory brew-live-stores] [src: memory brew-prod-backend] [src: memory brew-real-connectors] [src: brew/legal-pages.js:40] |
| Versions | v1 drafts and hands off, v2 posts with a yes, v3 shows what worked, v4 runs ads inside rules | The dial | [src: brand-directions/book/content/a.js a-5 ladder] |
| The ask | Not set by the founders | Open | [src: brand-directions/book/content/i.js i-8 story] |

### Facts behind the money slides

| Fact | Source |
|---|---|
| The proposed model is one plan per brand, a money wallet for what Brew makes, and in v4 3% of the ad spend it runs; parked, nothing billed | [src: brew working tree docs/pricing.md:5-14] [src: memory brew-pricing-parked] |
| Proposed v1 plan $79 or ₹4,999 a month against an estimated brain cost of about $15 | [src: brew working tree docs/pricing.md:20-23] |
| A full demo build costs about $80 | [src: brew/public/demo-picker.html:201] |
| A Play costs a median $0.18 on Gemini Pro and $0.83 on Opus | [src: memory brew-model-compare-2026-10-20] |
| Google startup credits: $20,763 of $25,000 left on 16 Oct, ending 2028-05-19 | [src: memory brew-gemini-provider] |
| The entity is Yellow Monk Technologies LLP | [src: brew/docs/connectors-approvals.md:26] |

### Risks we name ourselves

- Each read and each Play costs real money, so reads are capped [src: brand-directions/book/content/i.js i-8 story]
- Posting later needs trust earned in v1 [src: brand-directions/book/content/i.js i-8 story]
- Drafts and Plays depend on outside AI models; production runs on a preview Gemini model [src: brew/tools/prod-env.sh:9]
- Pricing is not set, so the margin is not proven [src: memory brew-pricing-parked]

### Scoop in the story

| Rule | Source |
|---|---|
| In the investor update: Scoop: none | [src: brand-directions/raccoon/comms.html k14] |
| A person, never Scoop, handles money, privacy, apologies and anyone upset. | [src: brand-directions/raccoon/system.md s3] |
| Cover line: Everything everyone says about your store. | [src: brand-directions/docs2/data/dirs.json raccoon tagline] |
| Close line: Read by Scoop. Shipped by you. | [src: brand-directions/docs2/data/dirs.json raccoon lines] |
| Owned colour tangerine #ff7a1a; display Gloock, body Schibsted Grotesk | [src: brand-directions/docs2/data/dirs.json raccoon tokens] [src: brand-directions/docs2/data/dirs.json raccoon fonts] |
| Never: I posted it for you. Your sales went up this week. Trust me, this will sell. | [src: brand-directions/docs2/data/dirs.json raccoon banned] |

## Tomorrow

| Item | Version | Tag |
|---|---|---|
| The story as told today | v1 | Stays |
| Traction adds weekly hand off stores and a measured cost per brand | v1 | Changes |
| Traction adds the first paying brands, once pricing is unparked | v1 | New |
| Approved posts become proof | v2 | New |
| Measured results become proof | v3 | New |
| Ads run inside rules become proof | v4 | New |

## How we do it

The deck, eight slides, with the product live by slide two [src: brand-directions/book/content/i.js i-8 deck].

1. The founder's Monday: one line, one picture of the week. Scoop with the tagline on the cover.
2. The product, live: paste, the read, a pick, Make it, the brief.
3. Proof: partners exist; show the read, never results; no names without a written yes.
4. How it grows: v1 to v4, one power each, no dates.
5. Business model: plan, wallet and autopilot as a proposal, said as parked.
6. Market: open until sourced; never a market number without its source.
7. Team: Param, Sai and Arvind, with roles Param sets.
8. The ask: set by the founders. Close with Scoop's sign off.

Never in the deck: the internal plan to own outcomes, a rival's name, invented results, or a claim that it posts today [src: brand-directions/BRIEF.md section 2].

## Numbers

| Metric | Definition | Where measured | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Partners live | Partner brands whose home is production | `MOVED_TO_PROD` | 5 [src: brew/deploy.sh:41] |
| Weekly hand off stores | Stores with a hand off in the week | Brief records | Proposed |
| Cost per brand a month | Measured AI and data spend per brand | Spend files and AI tags | Proposed, not measured |
| Revenue | Billed plan and wallet a month | Billing, not built | None while parked |

## Open

1. **The ask.** Proposal: leave the slide out until Param decides whether and when to raise; see [fundraising and cap table](/company-and-strategy/fundraising-and-cap-table).
2. **Can we name a partner count or a partner?** Proposal: "five real brands" only after each agrees in writing, names only with a signed yes.
3. **Does the plan to own outcomes reach investors?** Proposal: say it in person only, never on a slide, as the brief keeps it internal.
4. **Team slide roles.** Proposal: Param writes one line for each of Param, Sai and Arvind in team and roles, and the slide copies it.
